Max Payne 3 App Reviews

My 27" iMac meets all the specifications required to run the game, but it doesnt work. It stops on the initialization screen and nothing happens. Tried a fresh reboot and nothing. What a bummer. Dont buy this one.

I just wish there were more games for Mac like this.

This game was working perfectly for months.. but all of a sudden last week.. I noticed Rockstars Social Club stopped loading up and the game itself now wont start. I had this same problem with the PC version. Uninstalling and reloading did not fix the problem. Fustrating. Starting over on the PS3 (which BTW does not perform or look as good as the Mac version) . Please get this fixed!

This is my first bad purchase with the app store. I live in Alaska and have a limited data plan meaning I can only be connected so long to the internet before incurring overage charges. I used to love the original Max Payne so I figured the 40$ and internet usage would be worth it. Well after waiting 8 hours for the download and going over my data cap, I anxiously restarted my computer after install and opened the program. Alas it seemed to freeze on the initializing page. I waited a good 15 minutes the first time. Hmmm I thought to myself, maybe I just need another reboot. So i rebooted and tried again. Again it froze on the initialization page. I made sure all other programs were closed and that my OS was up to date. My Imac is also only about 8 months old. Tried it again, this time I figured I would wait longer so I took a shower, helped my wife with dinner, went to the store, watched a movie, played call of duty on the good ole xbox (offline of course since I was over my data cap), and about 4 hours later, it was still stuck on the friggin initialization screen! Tried rebooting it uuuuugain and it continued to do the same thing. Now I apreciate the fact that porting games over to mac os is difficult and most companies dont bother with the effort. I am however very disappointed that my 40$ investment plus data overage fees resulted in a product that wont even load properly. Hell I expected bugs after reading other reviews and you know what, Im ok with bugs; Im used to it being a mac user, but I couldnt even start the darn game.

I started the game and it works fine then as the game loads more it gets to the part where it says "Initializing". Then it stays frozen on that screen! I have tried to force quit and I have restarting my Mac, but that doesnt work and I get so frustrated. When I first downloaded Max Payne 3, it worked perfectly, without a problem. Then as I progressed through the game I started having these problems with it and I dont know how to solve it. Like I said I got so frustrated!! I hope this problem is fixed.

The game hangs on the "Initializing" screen on boot up. This is a common problem, experienced by other users. It worked for about a month, but then stopped working. No response from Rock Star Games, no patches, and I feel totally ignored. Buggye. Looks great and is fun, but only when it works. I would give 5 stars if it actually worked.

Why would Apple put a game in the app store that simply does not work? Wont let you load past the initializing screen. Can someone in support please help?

If your computer is slow after downloading Max Payne 3. "Shut Down" Your mac just a downloaded a huge file and it needs rest! Its been over used and over heated. So Turn it off, wait 5 - 15 minutes and then play your game. (All Mac Products) "WORKS"

I am not pleased with MP3 because it wont open after i get to the opening title page. I push enter and then it just dosent stop loading and bring ti the menu. I have restarted my 27" Mac over and over again and it still wont work. And by the way I am doing a Twitch livestream speed run of this game soon, so please fix as fast as possible!!! Thanks. (P.S. By the way this wouldve been a 5 stars off the top if it really worked, esspicially for my livestream!)

max payne is a nice game but downloading it for mac is a mistake. As it is 32GB it takes alot of space in your computer and it took a whole day for me to download it. When I finally got to play the game it would crash or it would be filled with bugs which made it impossible to play the game making me shutdown my mac lots of times. I changed the settings in every way I could but it didnt make a difference. So trust me and dont buy this game because it is a total waste and you will regret it. Only buy it if there is an update because an update is definetly needed.

After spending $40.00 and wasting 35GB of space, we are left with a game that doesnt even work. Restarts do nothing. Making space on the hard drive does nothing. You guys have some work to do. Can I get my money back?

I had a great time after launching it, but after that it never worked. I got a message sayng the application is damaged and that I have to delete and download it again from trhe app store. I deleted it and the app store still says it’s installed and won’t let me download it again. Now I’m stuck.

this game is awesome even though sometimes its a little laggy when you have many programs open. im just in the second level and im LOVING IT!!! the $20 is totally worth it it took me 2 days to download it wasnt that long it goes fast

so everyone who has been complaining i sent a report in but my game wont even download for some reason its pretty stupid Apple please FIX THIS!!!

The game will not load. tryied rebooting and download again still not working so i say don`t buy

After reading many of the other reviews of the game, I was very skeptical of downloading this game. First of all, it seemed very graphics intensive and the file size of over 30GB was scary. However, I really wanted to play a high quality Rockstar game…unlike GTA San Andreas, so I bought it. It took about 2 hours to download. After downloading it, I started it up. Just so you know, I am playing on a 2013 MacBook Air 13” 1.7Ghz i7 Haswell Processor 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD. The game started up smoothly, asked me to login to my Rockstar acoount and then went onto the game. I set the game specs at pretty close to maximum with all of the settings at “good”. I tried them at “very good” and I encountered some occasioanl lag. Overall this game is very good and probably the best game on the Mac App Store. Although it is graphics intensive, and does make my Mac’s fan go crazy it works absolutely fine. I would highly recommned this game to anyone with 20 dollars to spend.

Is this game just like GTA? Cause GTA wont even show up in my dock when I try to open it! Does it use that Cider thing?

Loved all the GTAs for the Mac so I bought this game. It crashes more than it runs and hangs up my computer requiring manual shutdown. I have the latest hardware and software on a desktop IMac. I enjoyed it the one time I was able to play it. Since the problems running the game are mentioned numerous times on this board, you can pretty much rest assured that downloading this game will be a major dissappointment until those problems are fiixed.

Doesn’t work at all, downloaded 3 times and got "“Max Payne 3” is damaged and can’t be opened. Delete “Max Payne 3” and download it again from the App Store.” each time. Feeling very ripped off - don’t make my mistake, stay away!

Should have read the reviews first. Knew something was wrong with the extended download and install times. The program does not launch. My macbook air shows a program is running, but nothing ever happens. I can’t even shutdown after I attempt to launch The whole computer hangs until I force a restart. So, it’s bad enough that the program hangs, but everything hangs. How do I get my money back.
